Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 25, 2026

DreamCatcher is a dream journal and interpretation app made by Dutchworks LLC ("Dutchworks," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what DreamCatcher collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the app and askdreamcatcher.com.

1. What we collect

Your account. DreamCatcher signs you in with Sign in with Apple or Google. We store the unique identifier your provider gives us for your account and tie your dreams to it — we never see or store your Apple/Google password.

Your dreams. When you record a dream, DreamCatcher turns your speech into text entirely on your device — the audio recording itself is never uploaded or stored by us. What we do receive and store, tied to your account, is: the resulting dream text, a set of voice-pattern signals extracted on your device (pace, pauses, tone, and similar cues, no words) that help our interpretation engine, your dream interpretations, and your conversations with the in-app dream chat.

Purchases. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and RevenueCat — our subscription-management vendor — keeps a subscriber record (entitlement status, renewal dates) so the app knows what you've paid for. We don't receive your card details.

Crash diagnostics. We use Sentry to catch app crashes and errors so we can fix them. Crash reports are technical (stack traces, device type, OS version) and are not linked to your DreamCatcher account.

What we don't collect: your microphone recording never leaves your phone. Speech-to-text runs with on-device, on-phone speech recognition — DreamCatcher only ever sends us the words, not the sound of your voice.

2. How AI processes your dreams

What we send. To generate your dream interpretations, power dream chat, and build the patterns behind your Dream Chart, DreamCatcher sends your dream text to an AI model — for interpretations, together with the on-device voice-pattern signals described above. Dream chat additionally sends your question, the relevant dream(s), and your recent conversation history so the assistant can answer in context.

Who it goes to. That processing runs on Google's Gemini API. We don't control Google's infrastructure, and your dream content is processed under Google's Gemini API terms.

Why. This is how DreamCatcher generates your interpretations, answers you in dream chat, and builds your pattern chart from your dream history — none of it happens without a model reading the text.

3. How we use it

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your dream content to serve you ads.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with the vendors that help us run DreamCatcher, each bound by its own terms to use it only to provide their service to us: Apple and Google (sign-in), Google (the Gemini API — dream interpretation, dream chat, and Dream Chart pattern extraction), Apple and RevenueCat (subscriptions), Sentry (crash reporting), and our cloud hosting provider (running the DreamCatcher backend). We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

5. Deleting your data

DreamCatcher gives you two options, both in Settings, both immediate:

Both remove your data from our active database immediately. What's left after that is cleanup we can't do instantly: database backups age out within 30 days, and any residual record with a processor like RevenueCat clears within 55 days.

6. Getting a copy of your data

You can request an export of your dream data at any time by contacting us (below). We package it and send you a secure, time-limited download link.

7. Not medical or professional advice

Dream interpretations are generated for reflection and entertainment. They are not medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice, and DreamCatcher is not a substitute for professional care.

8. Children's privacy

DreamCatcher is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encryption of exported data — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
